Hakkımızda

We are a small family, and this is our small shop.

Kelebek Modest started at our kitchen table in North Carolina. Azize travels to Turkey and chooses every scarf, shawl, and dress herself, looking for real silk, soft cotton, and the kind of finishing you only notice when you wear it. We began by sharing new arrivals with friends and neighbors, then with customers across the country over Instagram and WhatsApp. This shop is the same family, the same eye, and the same care, now with a place of its own.

Photo of Azize in Bursa, coming soon

Azize started bringing scarves back from Turkey for friends here in North Carolina years ago: one suitcase, then two, then a room of the house that slowly became a store. Twice a year she flies back and spends weeks visiting the ateliers in Bursa and the fabric streets of Istanbul, touching everything, buying only what she would wear herself.

Ismail handles the boxes and the post office. Mustafa built this website and answers most of the WhatsApp messages. If you have visited us at home, you already know: there is tea, and there is no rush.

We are not a big brand and we do not want to be. We want you to open the package and feel that someone chose this for you. Because someone did.

Elinden, gönlünden. From her hands, from her heart.

Three of us, one eye.

Visit us

A private showroom in Fuquay-Varina.

We run the shop from our home in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, about twenty-five minutes south of Raleigh. Visits are by appointment, so Azize can lay the pieces out for you and there is time to try things on.

Message us on WhatsApp with a day and time that suits you and we will send the address. We take visits Monday to Saturday, 11am to 8pm; we are closed on Sunday.

How pieces are chosen

Nothing goes on the site that Azize would not wear or gift herself.

  1. Touch first, buy second

Azize does not order from catalogs. She holds the fabric, checks the hem, and looks at the print in daylight before she buys a single piece.

  2. Small quantities

Usually four to eight of a color. When they are gone, we try to find them again on the next trip, but we do not promise.

  3. Honest labels

If it is 100% mulberry silk, it says so. If it is a cotton blend, that too. Fiber content and care are on every product page.

  4. One price

The website price is the same price we give friends at home. No games, no fake sales.
